Manual Backups & JSON Snapshots
Create a full snapshot: on Basic, open Settings → Data & backups and use the Backup section at the top, the dashboard Backup control card, or All files, CSV & restore for the full list and toolbar. On Pro or Premium, Settings → Secure → Data & files (same Backup section at the top of that page). Portable backups land in the locked documents/N78-Ops folder as verified .n78bk files (ENC = encrypted, RAW = plain JSON), or legacy .json / password-protected .zip. N78-Ops verifies each full backup can decode before it is marked successful.
Restore reads a full snapshot only: .n78bk, unencrypted .json, or password-protected .zip, after you enter your master password (the same one used when the encrypted backup was created). If restore fails, your prior data is rolled back automatically. If the backup came by email, download or save the attachment first—forwarding the message to your own address is fine if that helps—then on Data & backups use Import so the file appears in the list, then Restore. CSV and CSV .zip files are not restore formats—see Data portability (CSV Export).
Archive older data (same screen) is a separate action: it exports only rows on or before a cutoff you choose, then removes them from the device—see Data files & backups.
Read Protecting exports & sensitive data before choosing plain exports or emailing backups.
